Set up as an online yarn store, we are based in Kenya providing affordable imported yarn, knitting and crochet accessories. We also provide information for all your crafting project needs.
At CKyarnsKE, we take the time to carefully select quality yarn and accessories and make them available to the local market at affordable rates. We have in place an efficient ordering and delivery process. The yarns are sourced from China, US, and Turkey in a wide assortment of colours. We also have accessories and crafting tools which include a selection of knitting needles, crochet hooks, darning needles, stitch markers, buttons, etc.
CKyarnsKE was born in 2020 to support Crochet Kenya Community Based Organization’s mission of creating adorable, comfortable everyday wear for donation to cancer patients, children’s homes, and elderly homes. A percentage of the sales from CKyarnsKE are dedicated to Crochet Kenya’s donation activities which run throughout the year.
While there is locally produced yarn in Kenya, the options are limited in terms of colour and types. There are about three companies that produce yarn. However, they generally have the same colour charts and textures. There are those yarns that are perfectly smooth and soft for baby products like sweaters and booties, others that are tough and best for beachwear or light draping and summer sweaters. The chunky local yarns are ideal for making mats and weaving. There is one brand that has unique colours but releases polymers when being worked. This causes issues for those who are allergic.
This is where CKyarnsKE comes in to bridge the gap and provide affordable, quality yarn, expand palettes and cater to all yarn needs. This is our mission.
