We love you Aunty Liz!” are the words these young beautiful girls of @wemacentre chorused after spending a morning training them to knit and crochet. 🥰😍🤩 And I love them too very much. After donating some food stuff and handmade clothing made by Crochet Kenya members and volunteers, I finally kept a promise I have been making for these girls in the past 3 years which is to impart the basics of crochet and knitting.
Seeing their faces shine and light up when they learn and master one stitch and also their resilience and patience in mastering the craft reminded me of my starting days. What’s I started as a hobby is beyond that and look at this opportunity God has given to share my skills and talents with them.
Thanks to our online shop @ckyarnske, which provided crochet hooks, knitting needles and #rosebrandyarn, over 20 girls had an opportunity to learn how to crochet. As usual with any new beginner, we have those who catch on fast and those who need more practice to get something good going.
I hope to continue the sessions later on in the year and spend another day with them. Such interaction is what fills me wholeheartedly and for that I give thanks to God.
